On December 23, Yuetjiang Robotics, a leader in the collaborative robotics industry (stock code: 2432.HK), officially listed on the main board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. This marks a critical milestone for Yuetjiang as a driving force in the global collaborative robotics market.
Founded in 2015 by Liu Peichao, a graduate of Shandong University with a master’s degree in mechanical engineering, alongside his university alumni and colleagues from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Yuetjiang Robotics began with a 5-person startup team. The idea for the company originated from Liu’s observation in the lab—researchers were often wasting energy on repetitive tasks. Why not develop a robotic arm to free up their hands and allow them to focus on innovation? This idea laid the foundation for Yuetjiang Robotics’ mission: “Using technology to liberate hands.”
The company’s first product created and defined the desktop four-axis collaborative robot, and from day one, innovation has been deeply embedded in Yuetjiang’s DNA. Liu Peichao expressed, “We are thrilled to witness Yuetjiang Robotics reach a new milestone. With the rapid growth of the collaborative robot industry far surpassing traditional industrial robots, the widespread adoption of AI technology will further accelerate the use of collaborative robots in various scenarios. The company will seize the global opportunities in the collaborative robotics market, strengthen its leadership position, enhance competitive advantages, and continue to expand market share to deliver sustainable returns for shareholders, driving long-term development.”
Yuetjiang’s listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange marks the company’s success as China’s first publicly traded collaborative robot company. This achievement reflects a decade of innovation and breakthroughs, with the company growing from an idea in a lab to one of the industry’s global leaders in just nine years. According to 2023 shipment figures, Yuetjiang ranked first among all collaborative robot companies in China and second globally, with a market share of 13.0%, maintaining the top spot in China for six consecutive years.
Yuetjiang Robotics now has branches and R&D centers in 12 countries and regions, with its business spanning over 80 countries worldwide, including the US, EU, Japan, and Southeast Asia. By 2023, the company had shipped 72,000 robots globally, with overseas revenue accounting for 59%, transforming into a global Chinese robotics giant.
Technological Innovation, Leading Products, and Expanding Application Scenarios
Yuetjiang Robotics has become one of the few companies in the world to develop a full-stack technology in the collaborative robotics industry, starting with the control system and extending to servo, kinematics/dynamics, vision, and AI. This unique advantage allows the company to maintain a competitive edge.
Yuetjiang Robotics continues to lead in industry safety technology with its unique flexible electronic skin, enabling robotic arms to proactively detect humans and obstacles within a 15cm range. This technology predicts potential collisions and initiates timely avoidance measures. It has been scaled across intelligent collaborative robot products and has been recognized by experts from the China Machinery Industry Federation as internationally leading.
The company leads the industry in patents, having applied for 1,335 intellectual properties, including 973 patents, 454 of which are inventions, and 52 PCT patents. Yuetjiang holds the largest number of registered patents in the global collaborative robot industry.
Leading Products and Commercial Expansion
Yuetjiang Robotics continues to enhance its commercialization capabilities with its leading products. After launching the world’s first desktop collaborative robot, the company has introduced 27 models, including CRA, CR, CRS, MG400, M1Pro, Nova, and Magician. These robots are among the most diverse in the industry, serving numerous fields such as industrial manufacturing, retail, medical surgery, STEAM education, and scientific research. Over 60 Fortune 500 companies have chosen Yuetjiang robots, with the company also collaborating with more than 6,000 schools.
Yuetjiang robots are widely used in more than 200 scenarios across over 15 industries, including automotive, 3C electronics, lithium battery, food and beverage, medical surgery, education, new retail, and agriculture. The company’s robots offer flexible, safe, and efficient collaborative solutions, paving the way for the automation of various industries.
The Future, Now Within Reach: Yuetjiang’s Robotic Arm Brings AI to Life
The rapid development of AI large models is ushering in a new technological revolution. For AI to truly integrate into human production and daily life, a physical carrier is needed. In the industry, robots are widely regarded as the ideal physical carriers for AI. Yuetjiang’s robotic arms are bringing AI technology to “hands,” offering humanity greater freedom. AI, like the human brain, is embodied in Yuetjiang’s collaborative robots—new, tireless, and powerful hands that can revolutionize human tasks.
Yuetjiang Robotics is the first company in the industry to commercialize AI-enabled collaborative robots. Its intelligent robot, X-Trainer, leverages AI and remote control technologies to collect task data and train an end-to-end control model using neural networks. This significantly enhances the robot’s autonomy and accelerates the adoption of embodied AI technology across various vertical industries. The X-Trainer has already been deployed in many leading manufacturing enterprises.
A Healthy, Sustainable Business Model for Long-Term Growth
Yuetjiang Robotics is firmly rooted in autonomous R&D of key technologies and a complete product portfolio, consistently expanding into multi-industry applications. The company is focusing on industrial, commercial, household service, and educational applications, working across different sectors to drive sustainable growth.
Liu Peichao, founder and CEO of Yuetjiang, divides the scenarios where robotic arms will enter human life into three categories. “The first is industrial scenarios, where items are more structured and standardized. The robotic arm can perform tasks such as handling and assembly in this type of environment. The second is commercial scenarios, like in bubble tea shops, where workers prepare hundreds of drinks daily. The robotic arm can take over these repetitive tasks, freeing employees to focus on customer interactions. Finally, there are household scenarios. In the next three years, I believe robotic arms will enter homes to help with chores such as folding clothes, cooking, and cleaning.”
This vision is not just about technological leadership but also signals the maturity of the industry and growing market demand. Essentially, it represents a revolution in productivity driven by global demographic changes—factories face labor shortages, and the aging population calls for robots to take on more responsibilities.
A Trillion-Dollar Opportunity: A Long-Term Bright Future
The collaborative robotics industry is still in its early commercial stage, but the market opportunity is enormous. Yuetjiang Robotics is actively working with integrators to expand the application of collaborative robots in fields such as healthcare, covering more terminal applications. With continuous R&D and innovation, Yuetjiang has built excellent product and service capabilities, ensuring high growth and high profitability. This allows the company to expand its client base and reinvest in R&D, thus enhancing its product strength and service capabilities while building a sustainable business model.
The company has transitioned from relying on continuous financing to accumulating funds through business development, establishing a positive development cycle.
The future is on the horizon. As a leader in the rapidly growing collaborative robotics industry, Yuetjiang Robotics is embracing embodied intelligence and accelerating the global adoption of intelligent robots, contributing to a higher quality of life for humanity.
